We got our Jess the end of February and she has neck strings!!!
I have never seen the zip ties but, I prefer the strings because you never know when the need will arise to remove her head. We just removed our Sam's this morning to get a stain off of her cloth body!!!!

All of my dolls except for two (Marisol and an Addy with a pm torso) are pre-mattel and all of them (including Marisol) have neckstrings. Mom and I have seen the neck rings (Our Addy and Sam were test dolls before Mattel bought the company) and we both detest them.

Now we're both concerned that when we buy Jess later this month she might not have strings, since we know some of the mattel dolls don't. Since we're buying from AGP is there anything we can do to make sure she has strings? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Well if you are buying at AGP- open the box and look

I got my Jess through the mail and she has strings. I've heard the hospital is not using the zip ties anymore either because there were too many complaints.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Personal Opinion.

Most people here will say that the ties are better because it enables us to make our own fixes on the dolls. But, the rings do look better especially with the low cut shirts/ dresses where the ties show.

I like the ties better. I like being able to remove heads if I have to. And I like it out of tradition.

Now we're both concerned that when we buy Jess later this month she might not have strings, since we know some of the mattel dolls don't. Since we're buying from AGP is there anything we can do to make sure she has strings? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As Skittl said, you can look at the dolls in the boxes. My Jess was ordered through the site, and she has strings. I wouldn't be surprised if all Jess dolls do, even though it would make sense (with her shirt) for her to have the plastic ring.

I don't really see a difference (My Samantha has a zip thing because she went to the hosptial) and the only differnce is that Sam's head didn't turn as well becuase it was so tight when I first got her back. But I could still turn it and everything.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It personally does not matter to me at all. For Jess, as said above, I think I would prefer the zip tie because the strings look terrible with her halter top.

However, I have no desire to ever do any fixes on my own doll. The zip ties prevent people from taking the head off their dolls- something many people on this board actually do for various reasons. (Did you know you can unstuff the dolls and wash the bodies? Or give the dolls liposuction by taking out stuffing so the new clothes fit. People on this board are crazy)
